Tinille, RVT, VTS (ECC)

Team Leader - Registered Veterinary Technologist
Tinille graduated from University College of the Cariboo (UCC), now Thompson Rivers University (TRU), in 1996 and brings over 24 years of post graduate compassionate patient care to CIVEH. With extensive post-graduate training in emergency and critical care case monitoring she is an experienced leader in the Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) field. In 2003, she received her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Emergency and Critical Care (VTS ECC) and strives for leading edge, best practices in the field. Throughout her various positions as a RVT she has been a motivating and enthusiastic instructor, team leader, staff trainer and a clinical care manager. Some highlights of her career are:
  • Completed a 1-year internship program at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, New York (small animals)
  • Completed a 1-month externship program in Littleton, Colorado where she worked with horses
  • Worked in a couple of small animal general practices in Calgary, Alberta when she returned to Canada before finding her passion in emergency and critical care
  • Returned to Vancouver Island where she was born and raised and worked in a small animal practice and an equine sports medicine and surgery practice in 2006
  • For the past 13 years has taught Animal Health Technology in the distance program for TRU
  • Obtained her Low Stress Handling Silver certification in 2018 and her Level 3 Fear Free Veterinary Professional Certification in 2020
  • Received her Instructor certification for the RECOVER veterinary CPR program in 2019
  • Currently sits as a Director on 2 boards, the British Columbia Veterinary Technologists Association (BCVTA) and the Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC), and a guest advisory board member as a Distance Education Specialist for the PIMA Medical Institute
Tinille functions in a dual role with CIVEH as trainer to the support staff and to work along side the RVTs on the floor functioning as a senior resource to all in the animal hospital environment. She shares her home with her husband, 2 children, 2 cats (Carlos and Mello), MANY fish and 1 dog (Cherry). When not at work or parenting she enjoys hiking, gardening, crafts and reading.
