Ultrasound involves using high-frequency sound waves to image the internal structure of organs. It is an invaluable tool in the veterinary emergency room.
Patients in critical condition may receive rapid-assessment scans. It helps to quickly diagnose the presence of fluid or air in the chest or abdomen so that appropriate treatment can begin. Ultrasound also has a wide range of applications for reaching a better diagnosis in patients. It is particularly useful when investigating diseases of the abdominal organs, such as the liver, kidneys, bladder, pancreas and gastrointestinal tract, as well as the eyes and even muscles and joints.
As of February 29, 2024, CIVEH will now offer Ultrasound Referral Services led by Dr. Matthew Guenther.
Our Ultrasound Referral Services include:
- Abdominal Ultrasound: Interpretation by Dr. Guenther or referral for specialist interpretation if desired.
