Emergency Veterinary Hospital Open 24 Hours a Day

Referrals

If you are a client’s regular veterinarian and wish to transfer a patient to Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital for overnight care, further diagnostics, or interventional or surgical procedures, please submit a Referral Request Form. Once received, we will return an estimate for you to present to the client, so they have an idea of the approximate cost of care and the services provided. If you have any questions about the referral of specific cases, feel free to phone ahead and speak to one of our veterinarians.

 

Return Transfers and Records

We are guided by the needs of the client and the referring veterinarian. If the owner(s) would prefer to have their pet transferred back to their regular veterinarian when they re-open, we will transfer care back, provided that it is safe for the patient to be transported between hospitals.

Once a patient has been discharged from our hospital, we will forward all clinical records and results to the client’s stated regular veterinarian for future reference and ongoing care. Please be aware that due to the high volume of patients that we can experience at times, there may be a short delay in the standard return of records. If you need records urgently, please contact our reception at 250-933-0913 and they will prioritize your case.

As part of this commitment, effective immediately, Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital will be instituting the following precautionary protocol to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

For the safety of yourself, our staff, and the community, clients will not be allowed to enter the building.

EMERGENCY CASES

- If possible, please call us at 250-933-0913 to let us know you are on the way so that we can be prepared to meet you upon your arrival at the hospital.

- When you arrive, please stay in your vehicle in our parking lot and call 250-933-0913, and we'll come to you.

- If you do not have a phone or your pet's emergency is immediately life-threatening, please come to the front door and ring the bell located to the right of the door.
